The Australian Heritage Wildlife Chess Set |
|
The Australian Heritage Wildlife Chess Set became our 2nd major group project and enabled us to raise $9,5672.00 for the The Sydney Cochlear Implant Centre. Bill Longhurst took control of the project and with collaboration from many members the final plan for the chess board and pieces was conceived. Many hours of labour were donated by the members of The Sydney Woodcarving Group Inc. to create this beautiful and unique Chess Set. We pay tribute to two members of SWG, who have since sadly passed away, who contributed much to the completion of the project. Jeff Snell, inventor of the AngleMag and a contributor to the initial construction details, and John Boyle who did the wonderful chip carving of the State Emblems on the board itself. Materials were so graciously supplied by Richard Clark and staff at Trend Timbers.
